The Supreme Consciousness is both with and without form as well as transcending both distinctions. While being all-important to some it is barely noticed by others.
Depending on your background, history and other complex variables, you may call this
Infinite Consciousness, the Source of all existence, the Divine Mother, God, Jesus, the Buddha, Shiva, Allah, Kali or numerous other names, to many to mention, uttered in countless languages, or you may not believe in the existence of God, or any sort of creator.
All of the names have an important resonance for humanity and in more ways than one. More than ample research clearly points to the power of sound to effect change in our lives. The power of sound in one of its most potent and usable form is known as Mantra (A Sanskrit word that can be translated as Mind-Tool) Mantra can take audible form as in sounds we physically utter or chant, which can be heard with our ears or may be uttered as inaudible repetitions of a specific syllable or syllables.
Traditionally they are chanted either at the start or end of the day and in some cases through out the entire day, amidst varying activities.
Prayer is another form the power of sound takes. Normal speech has its power as well. Each word we think and utter all have their unique resonating signature and potentiality.
Music in all its forms obviously has a vast influence in our lives for music is a virtual endless ocean of frequencies from the subtle to the gross, an endless rainbow spectrum.
Some advanced work has been done with playing certain tones in one ear and an other similar but different tone in the other ear which creates a vibration that has a tendency to calm and synchronize the hemispheres of the brain, this is often referred to as entrainment.
Mantra which is an ancient but very potent technology also entrains the consciousness of the listener.
Some experts on the subject go as far as to say that conscious emotion, sentiment or attached meaning to the repeated sounds of our choice are not necessary, and that certain sounds themselves have inherent power, on account of their vibrational makeup and native relationship to various energy centers within the body as indicated by major nerve ganglia, acupuncture points and often referred to as charaka’s.
They state that the ancient seers having gone into deep states of meditation and or prayer and have spontaneously uttered these root sounds which themselves had an affinity with the deep states of transpersonal Consciousness the Mystic Seer resided in at that moment
Many people feel however, that an emotional counterpart (such as love, reverence and other similar exalted emotions) along with the uttered sound can serve to enhance the sounds chanted or uttered.
Many individuals seeking to transform the quality of their consciousness and their world are familiar with what is being said here, as a good deal is classic understanding on the subject.
I am especially expressing my views on this important subject for those less familiar with this potent tool for reconnecting and re-cognizing our essential nature and being one with the awareness of the Divine foundational Consciousness and all life everywhere.
The Great masters who are intimately acquainted with the art and science of mantra advice younger aspirants that to fully benefit from the chanting of Gods name in the form of a mantra we must feel that there is no difference between, he who chants the mantra, the mantra itself and the object of the mantra, which is the Supreme Consciousness itself.
To use an old adage the proof of the pudding is in the eating, in the case of chanting mantras, or the names of God this surely applys.
How much pudding do we have to eat?
It would seem logical that this would depend on our ability to absorb such influences, as well as a few other factors, such as, a keen desire to know the Divine, openness and factors.
Pudding anyone?
Getting to intellectual about our spirituality can be likened to an imbalanced diet.
We are Holographic in our makeup and require different nutrients for different parts of our nature.
If you are so inclined have some pudding as a calming and peaceful way to start or end your day.
In closing, for the scientifically inclined, there is a wealth of material available that validates these ideas on the influence of sounds notablyin the form of Mantra, used as transformational tools.
Consider if you will, what it would be like peering into the extra seven dimensions as
described by M-theory, which is now considered to be the cutting edge thinking in Theoretical Physics.
or to behold the world with the beatific vision of St. Francis of Assisi.
In order to change the world we need to penetrate to our innermost nature, this requires on one hand Super-human effort and on the other hand,it is the most natural thing in the world
Primordial nutrients anyone.
